Hi BVC’ers!

Many of you are probably aware that I was a history major when I attended SJSU and earned my degree in that subject. Consequently, I’m always interested in people and events. This past week, Nancy Reagan passed away at the age of 94. That leaves us with 4 former First Ladies living in addition to the present First Lady. I went to the Reagan Library page and got a glimpse of what the service will be like for Mrs. Reagan tomorrow. It includes the following Scripture passages which will be read: Proverbs 31:10-31 (the section which deals with the virtuous woman); 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (the section that deals with the fact that Paul did not want people to be uninformed about meeting the Lord again); and John 14:1-6 (the passage where Jesus proclaims that He is the way, the truth, and the life and that no one comes to the Father but by Him). Each of those passages is pretty straightforward, direct, and to the point. Since I know that Mrs. Reagan selected everything in association with her service, this is what she wanted people to hear and understand. You have just three occasions in your life when you are the center of attention: (1) your birth; (2) your wedding ceremony; and (3) your funeral. As you depart from this world, you have one singular chance to share with people one last time. Mrs. Reagan selected excellent passages. It got me to thinking: what passages would YOU want others to hear? What would you consider to be the most important passages that conveyed what you truly thought and believed?
