Hi BVC’ers! I’m reminded again that this is the day which the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Sometimes we lose sight of the fact that God has made today — with all of its ups and downs and traffic jams…it’s still His day. He expects us to rejoice and be glad in it. We all have so much to be thankful for that sometimes we miss the joys because we concentrate way too much on the negatives. Often we don’t have control over the negatives but we allow them to control us to the point where we miss the beauty and wonder of God’s creating a brand new day. With each day come 86,400 seconds which we can spend either being thankful or grumpy, joyous or sad, complaining or being grateful. The choice is ours but do remember upon these words: I will rejoice and be glad in it. Lots to tell you about. First, we’re working on getting all our air conditioners up and running (they are having some issues). You may have noticed it’s getting warmer in the worship center on Sundays — this is because one of our air conditioners does not work at all and one of the other three is having problems of its own. The remaining two air conditioners simply cannot do the work. The bid we received today came to $5,000 to fix the problem. We’re awaiting two more bids so we’ll see what happens next. Second, you will have an opportunity during the month of August to sign up for one of our four classes: Fundamentals of the Faith; Discipleship Training; Evangelism Training; and Teacher Training. We’re offering a choice on most of them but the larger group that selects one of the times/days will determine when that class will meet. Be looking for more information in this week’s bulletin. Third, we are returning to the 2nd Harvest Food Bank on Wednesday, September 23, from 6-8 p.m. We have 15 spots available…those who have gone know what fun we have!! Fourth, there will be an informational meeting after church on Sunday, September 13, for anyone interested in finding out more about the missions trip to Nicaragua in February, 2016. You are under no obligation by attending this meeting. Fifth, our Community Family Festival will be taking place on Saturday, October 31, from 5-8 p.m. We’re going to need a great many volunteers that day so think about joining in the fun and meeting our neighbors!! Sixth, Operation Christmas Child is in November. Lori Serpa will have dates for bringing items to the church as well as the packing boxes day. Be on the lookout for more information!! Finally, this Sunday begins a four-week study in Acts 2:42. Why do we do what we do as a church? What fuels our motivation and makes us want to meet our neighbors and witness about Jesus? The next four Sundays will answer those questions (and more). I look for you to join us — until then, have a great rest of the week!

Love, Pastor Chuck
