Hi BVC’ers!!

Last night BVC returned to the 2nd Harvest Food Bank. Have you ever wondered why we participate with them? First, I think it is good for any church to have involvement (on some level) with the city in which they’re located. 2nd Harvest is located at 4001 N. First Street here in San Jose. Second, it gives us the opportunity to “rub shoulders” with people from all over San Jose. Last night, for example, we met people involved in the tech world as well as individuals who came to help. Third, it is always good to give back so that others are served. After all, Jesus did not come to be served but to serve. Thus we’re following His example. There are a great many hungry people in our area. Last night moving 4 tons of plums helps get the food out and about! In the past we’ve worked with cans and labels; carrots; tomatoes; and oranges. I have so appreciated the great people of BVC who have come out and joined us. I know we’ve made an impact here and there!

THIS WEEKEND: OLD FASHIONED CHURCH BBQ. Don’t miss out on all the good food and fun and fellowship and games! If you haven’t signed up yet, there’s still time (and you can even volunteer for whichever game you want on Sunday). Please dress casually for both church as well as the BBQ. It will be fun to celebrate our nation’s independence together!

JULY 8: THE FAMOUS RUMMAGE SALE! Bring all your items to BVC so that they can be sold (with the profits going to help defray the cost of youth camp as well as Operation Christmas Child). If you have items that you’d like to donate, we’ll accept them! If you’d like to help, we need help at 7 a.m. getting items out and displayed plus clean-up help at Noon.

JULY 8: JERETT OLSON GRADUATES FROM WESTERN SEMINARY. What a great day for Jerett (and what an accomplishment)!!

Have a great rest of the week — see you Sunday for a great day!!
Love, Pastor Chuck
