Hi BVC’ers!

How many songs can you think of with the name “stop” in them? I thought of “Stop…in the name of love” and “Stop…wait a minute Mr. Postman.” Funny word in a song, right? Stop? Really? Yet it does get your attention.

How would it be if certain verses in the Bible contained the word “stop”? For example, “Stop. For God so loved the world” or “Stop. He makes me lie down in green pastures” or “Stop…I know the plans I have for you says the Lord.”

In each case, we would need to stop what we’re doing and focus in on what God is saying.

We live in a very busy world. With social media outlets, it seems that news is always streaming at us at all hours of the day. There’s noise everywhere you go: elevators, amusement parks, car radios, ballparks. It’s almost deafening sometimes.

But when was the last time you stopped and listened for the still, small voice of God? When was the last time the television set was turned off and you simply dwelled in God’s presence? When was the last time all the noise of the world was turned off and you heard God? Perhaps we need to “stop” what we’re doing in this crazy world and pause to listen to the Creator of the universe. As we careen through life, it certainly might be the biggest blessing we can receive: to stop and hear our Creator. Think about doing that this week!!
