Hi BVC’ers! Hebrews 10:24 says “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” Have you ever thought about how to do that? Often we think we need to do something big or grandiose in order for it to count. But in reality, it’s the simple things which have the biggest impact. For example, have you ever walked past someone hoping they wouldn’t look at you? The next time you’re faced with that, take the initiative and look at them squarely, smile at them, and then say “Hello.” You’ll be shocked by the response — they smile back!! And if a little thing like smiling and saying hello can yield such a response, imagine what would occur if you just smiled and had a pleasant conversation full of encouraging words! Nothing makes a person feel good about life and themselves than when someone else compliments them! Try it — and let me know the results!!

CANDY! CANDY! CANDY! It’s that time of year once again when we need to be collecting candy for our COMMUNITY FAMILY FESTIVAL. On the table in the house you’ll find a big (and I mean big) basket — all candy can be deposited there and we’ll use it on the night of October 31. All candy is acceptable (thanks in advance for your generosity and participation).

SHOE BOXES! SHOE BOXES! SHOE BOXES! Last Sunday Lori Serpa began handing out boxes from Operation Christmas Child. We’re attempting to do 500 boxes in November. But we need your help — not only to fill your boxes but also get the items that will minister to a child (crayons, washcloths, glue sticks, balls, etc.). It’s going to be incredibly exciting as we build boxes and pack them up for mailing right here at BVC! If you have questions, please see Lori Serpa.

CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE! Mark your calendars as we’re having our Christmas Eve Service on December 24, at 7:30 p.m. This will be a wonderful time to worship and praise the Lord for the greatest gift. Do feel free to invite others to come with you!!

Have a great rest of the week — see you Sunday as we continue our study in Paul’s letter to the Colossians (Colossians 1:24-29)!! See you then.

Love, Pastor Chuck
