Hi BVC’ers!

There’s a song you can hear on K-LOVE and it contains the words “breathe…just breathe” and it reminds me of just how uptight our society and culture has become. So many pressures. So many stresses. So many demands on our time. “Breathe…just breathe” becomes almost like a mantra to slow down, take a deep breath, and relax.

As I thought about those words from the song, my mind drifted over to the 23rd Psalm. That psalm helps us focus on the fact that “the Lord is my shepherd.” Then it says this: “He MAKES ME lie down.” I’ve often thought that when we get going too fast or have too many responsibilities or feel too much pressure/stress, God makes us “lie down.” We either get a cold or get sick or something gets cancelled and frees up our time to “lie down.”

God knows when we need a break. He knows when we’re under the gun trying to get things done or trying to make ends meet. He’s asking us to “breathe…just breathe” and find our refreshment in Him … and with that refreshment comes restoration of our soul.

The next time you feel stressed or simply overwhelmed with life, remember: “breathe…just breathe” and thank God for His refreshing touch!
