Hi BVC’ers!

If someone were to ask you what our core values are, what would you say? Perhaps a guess or two might be correct but eventually we’d have to admit that “I don’t know them all.” In my blog for today, I want to go over our “core values” just to keep them fresh and vital in our minds and hearts.

CORE VALUE #1: EVANGELISM. It’s our expectation that each person who calls BVC their church home will be involved in evangelism. Matthew 28:18-20 gives us the directive from Jesus Himself. We’re to be active in this regard by living true to what we know and speaking up when the opportunity presents itself to give a reason for the hope we have.

CORE VALUE #2: PRAYER. It’s our expectation that each person who calls BVC their church home will be involved in prayer on a daily, continual basis. Prayer replaces anxiety because it focuses us on God and how He meets our needs.

CORE VALUE #3: DISCIPLESHIP. It’s our expectation that each person who calls BVC their church home will be involved in growing and becoming more like Jesus. That’s truly what discipleship is. We offer “Fundamentals of the Faith” and “Discipleship Training” and several other classes all with this goal in mind.

CORE VALUE #4: MINISTRY. It’s our expectation that each person who calls BVC their church home will be involved in ministry (no matter the area or the time) and that each person will use their creativity to minister to people.

CORE VALUE #5: WORSHIP. It’s our expectation that each person who calls BVC their church home will gather together as often as possible for worship. Hebrews 10:24-25 informs us that we should not forsake the assembling of ourselves together (as some had done). We’re encouraging each other each time we gather and meet!

CORE VALUE #6: FELLOWSHIP. It’s our expectation that each person who calls BVC their church home will engage in fellowship as often as possible. This can happen over a dinner, a worship service, a Bible study.

So, how did you do? Were you able to name all 6? If not, don’t be too hard on yourself. These core values guide and direct each and everything we do as a church body. It’s my goal that each of us see where we are actively participating. And when that happens, the church will grow and reach out and influence the society around us.

Here’s what’s happening:
DISCIPLESHIP CLASS began on October 11. This is going to be a great class and I believe will challenge each of us to be more like Jesus! If you are not in this class right now, it will be held again in 2018.

COMMUNITY FAMILY FESTIVAL will be held on October 31. This is going to be a great event! Plan now on being involved. We can use candy (and lots of it), “trunk or treat” cars, set-up people, tear-down people, and few other positions. If you’re interested in participating in this ministry event, we’d love to see you join!!

Have a wonderful week ahead — I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
Love, Pastor Chuck
