Here’s our word for this week: PREPARATION.
I enjoy cooking from time-to-time and now that we’re entering the summer months, I like to make a cold salad made from some pretty neat ingredients (among them grapes, celery that is cut up, diced chicken, pineapple among others). After you get all the ingredients, you eventually put them all together and place in the refrigerator to chill. It tastes REALLY good. Takes some time to adequately prepare it but it’s well worth it!
When it comes to preparing the believer, that takes time too. I am convinced that each of the classes we’ll be conducting starting in July, will go a long way to preparing every believer to be more confident in their faith, give them more knowledge of where information is located in their Bible, and make them into the minister that God expects them to be.
Here are the classes we’ll be offering:
FUNDAMENTALS OF THE FAITH. This is a very basic class (it’s good for
beginners and it’s good for review). This class will be held starting
July 5 and continuing through September 27. It’s 13 weeks long and does
demand that each participant do some homework. The cost is $10 and
that’s for the workbook. Jerett Olson and I will be leading this class
together. I would encourage anyone desiring to know more about the
Bible to sign-up for this class.
DISCIPLESHIP CLASS. This is a 10-week class which will be offered in the Fall. Those who have taken Fundamentals of the Faith will be encouraged to follow-up with this class. These 10 weeks are more in depth with different topics each week.
EVANGELISM TRAINING CLASS. This is a 2-week class which will be offered in early October. Did you know that there are six different types of evangelist? Or did you think everyone has to be in the “Billy Graham-mold”? It’s important that each believer learn which type of evangelist they are and how best to use that gift within the Body of Christ.
KNOW YOUR GIFT CLASS. This is also a 2-week class which will be offered after Evangelism Training. Many times we find we enjoy serving within the church but we also find that we get a tad frustrated. Often the frustration comes from not knowing how you’ve been gifted. This class will remedy that situation and help you to serve where you can find the best fulfillment.
I’m also looking for those who would like training in how to teach/lead the aforementioned classes. If this is something that interests you, I’d love to do some teacher-training/mentoring in these areas. Let me know of your interest.
In order for BVC to be the best church it can be, we need to be doing these classes of preparation. I hope you’ll look within your heart and sign-up for one or all of the classes. I think you’ll be glad you did. Let me know if you have any questions!!
Some upcoming dates you need to be aware of:

Love,
Pastor Chuck
