Hi BVC’ers!

When one goes through a tough stretch (whether it be an extended hospital stay, financial losses, or a death in the family), life can get tough. Sometimes it becomes almost more than one can bear. The Scripture tells us in Galatians that we need “to bear one another’s burdens.”

I’d like for you to think about planning for a vacation trip. What’s one thing that is vitally important? Packing your suitcase. I recently packed my suitcase to come home and found it to be very heavy (heavier than I had anticipated). In fact, it was way over the allotted pounds.

When we begin to carry our suitcases out to the car for our trip, they can be numerous. Sometimes we need to make extra trips just to get them to the car. Our burdens can be a lot like our suitcases: heavy, cumbersome, difficult. But when friends and family come alongside and lift us up through prayer, the “suitcases” [burdens] drop off one-by-one as we know that God has the matter in complete control. Suddenly we’re able to breathe and move about more freely — all because of prayer! That’s what “bearing one another burdens” accomplishes — the ability to see God at work releasing us from the burdens that plague us.
